Business Appreciation Week

Calvert County, Md., Shows Appreciation for Business:

Third Annual Business Appreciation Week Scheduled for May 5-9, 2008

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – April 30, 2008 - Once again this year, the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Economic Development will celebrate Business Appreciation Week. The week of May 5-9 will feature a host of special events and activities to recognize and thank businesses of all sizes and industries for their contributions to the county’s economy and quality of life and help the community better understand the important role that businesses play in our local economy.

This year’s theme will focus on businesses that support or enhance Calvert County’s lucrative tourism industry. The week will include special events, workshops and networking activities and personal visits with county business owners by the Board of County Commissioners and staff from the Department of Economic Development.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Company site visits with Ambassador Teams, including Calvert County Board of County Commissioners, various locations.

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., B2B Power Networking Session: “The Power of the Entrepreneurial Spirit,” with speaker Charles Baker, president of MCB Lighting & Electrical and Government Logistics Solutions. Hosted by the Concerned Black Women of Calvert County and the Calvert County Minority Business Alliance (FREE), the Reid Building, 7994 Solomons Island Rd., Owings.

5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Calvert County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Mixer hosted by Davis, Upton, Palumbo & Keffler, LLC (Fee: $5.00 for Chamber Members /$15.00 for Non- Members), Prince Frederick.

Friday, May 9, 2008
8:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon, “Breaking Into the Group Tourism Market,” with Lois Stolzfus, Certified Travel Industry Specialist (FREE), Marriott SpringHill Suites, Prince Frederick, (Seating limited to first 100).
